The Early Years Foundation Stage / Ofsted Syllabus Paediatric First Aid course is a 12-hour course which covers the Early Years Foundation Stage criteria for childminders. This course gives candidates the knowledge and ability to deal with emergency first aid situations particularly whilst dealing with children.

A minimum six-hour programme (one day) for those who wish to gain knowledge of emergency procedures and gain a recognised qualification in First Aid. Where an employer’s assessment of First Aid needs identifies that a three-day First Aid at Work qualification is not necessary, the minimum employers requirement is to appoint a personto take charge of First Aid arrangements.
This course is for those who wish to gain knowledge of emergency first aid procedures and the ability to use an AED. It will give staff the knowledge and confidence to use the device effectively in an emergency.
This Qualsafe approved three day-course complies with HSE First Aid Regulations of 1981. First Aid coverage in the workplace is a legal requirement and this course is a requirement by any employee required to act as a First Aider within the workplace.
Attendance and completion of this 2-day course fulfils The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. The Statutory Framework states that ‘at least one person who has a current paediatric first aid certificate must be on the premises at all times when children are present.

All childminders, registered nannies and certain members of nursery staff in group settings in England and Wales must hold an appropriate valid paediatric first-aid certificate. This is a requirement of anyone registered with Ofsted in England, or CSSIW in Wales.
