Banking Professional Certificate

The Professional Certificate in Banking (PCertB) is an industry benchmark qualification for those starting out in, or aspiring to, a management career in financial services, particularly in retail and commercial banking. The PCertB will enable the students to gain grounding in the workings of the sector both from an organisational point of view and in respect of financial markets through the core module 'Financial Markets and Risk', appreciate the essential concepts of risk that underpin financial decision-making at every level, provide assurance to industry employers that the knowledge developed is based on comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles on which the industry is built, gain the ability to further develop general financial services knowledge, focus on a particular area of interest that is specific to thier existing role.

Teaching Financial Capability PGCert

This course aims to: Develop a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the core elements of learning and teaching principles; Develop comprehensive subject knowledge in financial capability education and thereby, competent and confident teachers of financial capability; Develop and extend a repertoire of teaching skills in face-to-face and online environments; Investigate and analyse a range of issues relating to learning, teaching, assessment and student support within the provision of financial capability education; Critically analyse and evaluate learning and teaching theories and strategies for teaching financial capability education; Evaluate and apply current research and scholarship in learning and teaching in financial capability; Undertake and apply academic research to critique and analyse their own strategies relating to teaching, assessment and the evaluation of learning; Work at the forefront of current knowledge and understanding of how learning is applied, placing this understanding within individual cohorts; Promote good practice and excellence in the teaching of financial capability education nationally and internationally. This masters level programme is a blend of the ‘Type II specialised/advanced study’ and ‘Type III professional/practice’ master’s (as described in the consultation document for master’s degree characteristics), in that it enables participants to build on their prior study in the field and/or their employment experience, with an emphasis on helping them to develop a broader and more reflective understanding of issues related to the theory and practice of financial capability education.
