DESCRIPTION This course seeks to make sport safer through improving the first aid knowledge and skills of people involved in sport and exercise. Objectives The course covers basic first aid with an emphasis on sports related injuries, and will include: ■Approaching the sports person ■Unconsciousness ■Practical Spinal Injury exercises ■Soft tissue injuries P R I C E but do no H A R M ■Routine Sport Medical Bag ■Practical use of contents ■Compression bandaging ■Burns with attention to Astro Turf, sand and friction ■Wound care ■Damage to teeth CERTIFICATION On completion of the course, delegates will receive a ‘Sports First Aid’ certificate which is valid for three years.

DESCRIPTION This new HSE approved qualiﬁcation came into effect on 1st October 2009, along with new guidance on assessing the needs of First Aid in your workplace. Your risk assessment of First Aid needs may well identify the need for Emergency First Aiders either as an addition to your First Aiders, or where the risk of your business is low, it may well identify them as being sufﬁ cient without the need of additional First Aiders.
