This course is designed for professional dancers wishing to prepare for a new career in teaching or dancers who are already teaching but wish to gain an internationally renowned RAD teaching qualification. The Professional Dancers' Postgraduate Teaching Certificate (PDPTC) combines distance learning and an onsite, intensive study period (to be held in Berlin), providing a flexible programme of study which can accommodate performance and/or teaching commitments and provide a secure platform for a career in teaching.
This course provides the opportunity to acquire the expertise to become a dance specialist teacher for the 11-19 curriculum, and UK government recognition as a teacher. There are three interrelated areas of study across the year: dance Studies; professional Studies and school experience and teaching.
This programme covers a range of areas in subject and professional studies as well as practical teaching. This is a new programme, launching in January 2013, for students wishing to study worldwide in English.
The Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies is a part-time programme delivered worldwide. The programme covers a range of areas in subject and professional studies as well as practical teaching.
Students complete 3 modules which increase in the level of demand from a basic knowledge and understanding of RAD syllabi and its use in teaching, to a critical appreciation of current issues in ballet education and training. The programme involves intensive practical study supported by lectures, presentations, peer teaching and seminars, but does not include practical teaching placements.
This programme is designed specifically for professional dancers who are at a stage in their lives when they are considering a career change; the aim is to build on the artistic and technical abilities accumulated over years of performing and to acquire the communication skills needed for studio teaching; students learn how to teach young people of all ages, some of whom hope to achieve a professional dancing career themselves, others who enjoy dance as a leisure activity.
