The Stitchery is a well-equipped sewing studio that offers a range of sewing and textile workshops in a friendly and informal setting.
Our aim is to give people the opportunity to regain the lost skills of sewing, equipping participants with the neccessary sewing techniques and knowledge needed to design, make and complete a range sewing projects confidently and independently.
The courses range from beginners sewing workshops to more advanced sewing classes.

Teenagers Sewing Club Saturday Afteroon 1-3pm A Six week beginners sewing course aimed for 12 - 17 year olds with an interest in clothes making. During the course students will learn all the basics in sewing giving them a really solid foundation in sewing skills that they will be able to use independently with a range of sewing projects: The course will also cover an introduction to garment making.
Learn to love your sewing machine! One day sewing workshops in a well equiped sewing studio. £40 for the day (materials covered in the cost) This one-day workshop is for anyone who would love to get sewing or for anyone who owns a sewing machine but doesn’t really know where to start! If you don't own a machine you can always borrow one for the day! The one-day workshop will cover: Threading your machine and bobbin correctly Learn about the different stitches and their uses.
This five week course is designed to give you practical machine sewing skills to build your confidence and inspiration. The course will guide you from the basics of threading a sewing machine correctly to using basic stitches, sewing seams and seam finishes, sewing darts, piping, buttonholes and inserting zips.

You learn how to select suitable fabrics, cut out with accuracy, test your design, assemble accurately, apply quilting fabric, quilt the easy way and add backing to your desired item.
The Sewing Project is an evening class for people wishing to make a garment using a commercial pattern under the guidance and tuition of a sewing instructor. This course is ideal for anyone who has basic understanding of using a electric sewing machine, but wants to progress on to a more challenging sewing project.

The Sewing Club is a 6 week next step sewing course for people who have basic sewing skills or have completed a beginners sewing course and would like to move on to the next steps in sewing, shich as, making a garment such as a dress, skirt or trousers. You bring your individual sewing project such as making a dress using a commercial pattern, which you construct with the help and guidance of a skilled tutor.
Introduction to Making Curtains A day workshop that includes: Measuring windows accurately and calculating fabric quantities to allow for drops, width and hems. Attatching heading tape and inserting lining.
