This programme will prepare students in line with the requirements of the Teachers’ Standards (2012) for the award of QTS. UCL Institute of Education works in partnership with around 350 primary schools to enable Primary PGCE students to meet the standards and fully prepare to be a primary teacher.

National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-Ordination PGCert

The programme aims to develop students professional knowledge and critical understanding of key concepts and debates addressed in the academic and professional literature and to apply this professional knowledge and understanding in order to lead and coordinate special educational needs and disability (SEND) provision across an education setting. By the end of the programme students should be able to: contribute to contemporary debate in the fields of both special education as well as inclusion and disability studies; Produce and communicate reasoned and informed reflective argument, both in writing and orally; Carry out a focused practitioner inquiry relating to the role of the SENCO, supported by relevant literature sources and Improve professional practice through greater knowledge, skills, understanding and awareness.
