This is a hands-on course that will get you exploring form, materials and processes from the start as a means of sculptural expression. It assumes no previous knowledge of working with sculpture.
At the start of the week, students will encouraged to develop a series of sketches and drawings and will be taken through a series of exercises which demonstrate how these can be used to form the basis of more abstract painting and drawing development. Depending on your experience, you’ll be given advise on a whole range of topics from tonal contrast, composition and mark making together with technical guidance on painting.

This 5 day course is run by Mat Kemp, a very well respected (international/British) sculptor with degrees from Newcastle University (fine Art), The Royal College of Art (Bronze casting) and the Instituto Statale D’Art Florence (Sculpture). Mat’s own talents as a sculptor will get you expressively combining a range of materials including wire, metal, wood, found and recycled items.
