BSL Level 1: 60 hours including 3 exams Signature Accredited Course The course covers a range of topics to enable you to basically communicate with deaf people in BSL. Weather, transport, everyday life, animals, family, hobbies etc.
Level 6 NVQ Certificate in British Sign Language (BSL) caters for the learning needs of those who already have competence in BSL at Level 3. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate competence at Level 6 of the UK Occupational Language Standards (CILT, 2010).
The Signature course is a total of 120 hours class time including 3 exams. 320 - Written paper on BSL Linguistics, 321 is a receptive exam, watching a DVD then writing answers, 323 is a 2 part exam of 8-10 mins presentation then a 10-12 minute conversation with the tutor on the chosen topic.
The course covers a range of topics to enable you to communicate with deaf people in BSL over a range of topics including holidays, shopping, food and drink and everyday life. The course (with exams) is accredited by signature at level 2 on the national framework Without exams it is £255, £399 with exams.
The IBSL course is a total of 120 hours class time including exams. The fee for this course is £525 + £140 for optional examination fees.
This qualification aims to further learners’ experiences and development in communication through British Sign Language (BSL) with Deaf people at an extended level. A Level 4 course will enable development in functional BSL communication in more depth than at earlier levels, requiring the ability to exchange, present and understand information, ideas, advice and opinions at normal speed, and also develop an awareness of cultural interaction with Deaf people who use BSL.
