The VTCT Level 1 Certificate in Beauty Therapy (QCF) will equip you with the skills and knowledge required to provide basic facial skincare and make-up treatments for clients, as well as basic manicure and pedicure treatments for the hands and feet. You will gain an insight into working with others in the hair and beauty sector, and knowledge of health, safety and hygiene requirements.
This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a junior beauty therapist specialising in make-up including: facial skincare, enhancement of eyebrows and eyelashes, make-up services, instructing on skincare and make-up application, effectiveness at work, health and safety and promoting additional products and services to clients. Learners will further develop their understanding and skills by selecting a number of optional specialist units which include: ear piercing, spa operations, threading, skin camouflage, salon reception duties - the full list of optional units is presented in the learners Record of Assessment book (ROA) (specification).
This qualification has been specifically designed for the 19+ age groups, builds on existing knowledge and understanding of hair and therapy skills and will develop an enhanced repertoire of technical skills to prepare learners for employment in management. Learners will have their skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment.
The VTCT Level 1 Award in Basic Make-Up Application (QCF) will enable you to prepare for and carry out basic make-up application, using foundation, concealers, powder, eye products, cheek products and lip products. You will be able to prepare for make-up, carry out a skin analysis and use consultation techniques.
