The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to meet the full range of needs of older people in a variety of care settings.
This qualification is aimed at staff, volunteers and youth workers who are involved in working with people who are at risk of substance misuse. The Ascentis Certificate in Mental Health Awareness aims to introduce the learner to understanding and responding to various mental health disorders. It enables the student to understand nine specified mental health conditions; to understand how to respond to nine specified mental health conditions; to understand relevant terms used within the field of mental health and to understand how nine specified mental health conditions can be managed.
This course enables learners to develop their understanding of the potential benefits for individuals of engaging in both everyday and programmed activities. It will support learners in contributing to planning and delivering individual and group activities and increase learners’ understanding of how activity has an important role in person-centred care.
Introduction This qualification is aimed at learners who have an interest in (or are already) operating in a caring role for older people and will develop the individual’s knowledge, skills and understanding of people that have dementia. This qualification is designed to help meet the current UK Dementia strategies to improve health and care services which support individuals diagnosed with dementia.
The course is designed to allow learners explore disability in an equality context and the impact of society in creating an inclusive society. In participation it explores the concept of people being disabled by society’s barriers and attitudes and the role of the individual, organisation and society in the removal of those barriers and in the changing of attitudes.
