This is a one-day course for employees in a low risk environment where a qualified first aider is necessary. This course became EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK from October 2009, making it a qualification, and not just attendance On completion of training, successful candidates should be able to: • understand the role of the first aider including reference to the use of available equipment and the need for recording incidents and actions; • understand the importance of basic hygiene in first-aid procedures; • assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency; • administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious and/or in seizure; • administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation; • administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and/or in shock; • administer first aid to a casualty who is choking; • provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries.
This course will teach you everyday first aid skills, which are invaluable when accidents happen around the home - and when you're out and about. It doesn't include CPR.

The course will comprise 16 hours of instruction and will be assessed by continuous assessment, a practical exam and a written exam.
This two day re-qualification course is designed to refresh the first aider’s knowledge and skills along with obtaining any recent updates in first aid procedures. A current first aid certificate must be held by the individual.
This is a 3-day course (previously 4-day), which after completion and a satisfactory assessment, permits the holder of the certificate to act as a first aider in the workplace under the H.S.
