This course is for those who wish to learn the basics at a more relaxed pace and enables you to gain an understanding of deaf culture and communicate with those who use British Sign Language. The sessions are relaxed, sociable and enjoyable.
This qualification is designed to teach learners to communicate using British Sign Language (BSL) on a range of everyday topics. The qualification is divided into three units: Unit 1 provides an introduction to BSL, Unit 2 covers conversation skills and builds on knowledge from the first unit.
This course enables learners to develop an ability to communicate with Deaf people using BSL in a range of familiar contexts, participating in lengthy and open-ended exchanges. The course will develop functional communication in BSL about a range of real life, routine and daily experiences.
Aim The course is designed to help learners demonstrate competence in using BSL at Level 3 of the UK Occupational Language Standards (CILT, 2010). This means that the learner will be able to understand and use varied BSL in a range of work and social situations.
Level 3 interviews take place on Saturday 3rd September between 10am - 2pm. Attendees will be assessed on receptive and productive skills to ensure skills at a suitable standard to attend our BSL Level 3 course.
