This course was 1 evening per week for 6 weeks. It was for people who had never used a computer before. There was no need to feel stupid because everyone else was in the same boat and the tutor was very patient in explaining things to people. There was a mix of ages too, from 20s right though to 60s. We learned the basics of Word, saving a file, printing a document and email. Recommended.

I studied Film Studies AS and A Level at Blackpool and Fylde College in 2004/5 for one evening a week. Our teacher was excellent, very down to earth and really knew all about the subject. We covered topics such as British Cinema, Cinematography, World Cinema, Arthouse Cinema, and Shocking Cinema. This course was excellent in giving students an insight into different kinds of films and how they are made.

The Poetry part was excellent because I learned about Sylvia Plath and her suicide and all her poems were when she was in a depressed state which came across in the poetry.
I loved the Essay writing because even though it was to be on a structured piece of work like An Inspector Calls ,I could use my own language to describe the characters.
I learned a lot about using grammar properly, and learned to use and recognise techniques in writing such as metaphor, similes and alliteration.

The course is really excelent I started on Intro fine art then got moved onto 1st diploma and got distinction which got me doing national diploma graphic design. the tutors teach you every things its in stages projects and you need to know what at what stage of the course the teachers know what they are talking about all worked for a company some abroad some here in the uk The level of course is quick as in the graphic work u have about 2/3 projects going at a time to keep the knowledge of what you learned going can be very hard at times but ''pays off in the end''.

The rooms them selfs need a bit sorting out you have your own draw for your work and its down to you to be responsible for it and what you do if u forget to take it home its your fault ect. The computer equipment dosent get any beetter using the apple macs a lot of them they also have scanners at the college and a libary across the road but the food in the art campus its self there is not much to choose from where as the main one has everything so just trip over to the main 1 at dinner for something decent.
Social life****
The student atmosphere is great made lots of new freinds keep in touch on myspace they can be freinds for life the people in my course are also great and we all have a commitment to the work when it has to be done so yeah great place and very profesional.

Although Blackpool falls short in terms of societies, communities atc., the course itself is fascinating and covers a wide range of subjects. The smaller classes provide a close relationship with the teachers. However, the course structure can be a bit disorganised.

The resource centre is stocked with all the right... well, resources! You don't have to rifle through books that noone ever uses because it's recently been streamlined to contain the essentials. Anything random that you do want can be ordered. All new computer suites and newly refurbished rooms - chairs from Holland (we only know that cos they arrived late!! Ha!).

There were some good opportunities to progress onto Postgraduate level or get a decent job. But I cannot really comment as I have switched to a completely different course.
