I wanted an introduction to metalworking and machining, and this is exactly what I got. I learnt to turn things on the lathe, to weld (I did MIG welding, although a couple of other types were available), to forge, and to a lesser extent to use hand tools. The teacher had a couple of designs which we all fabricated, which took about the first two-thirds of the course, and then we were free to work on personal projects or try our hand at various different things. Very interesting.
Student facilities****
Very well-equipped in terms of tools, machinery and materials.
Parking was a bit of a problem, though.
Social life***
No women at all in the group (of about 10) which I was in. Friendly bunch but no socialising outside of the course.
Great course for a new career

Course content*****
It was a sixteen week course and by the end of it you are qualified as an Indian head masseuse. The courses at Eastleigh college are normally cheaper than at other places. what's also great is they have had the building recently renovated so its a great, clean and new building to study in. The course was interesting and obviously lots of hands on practical. It was taught at a good pace and the tutor was down to earth and friendly and able to answer any problems, as she was an Indian head masseuse by profession.
Student facilities*****
The building has recently been renovated so the whole health and beauty wing is brand spanking new and so a great place to learn. It had nice large classrooms and class sizes are kept small.
Social life*****
There were a good bush of student from all walks of life and even men were doing the course. the size of the group was kept small so that it was a more personal and intimate course.

Terrible - The tutors were always busy and were always unable to help individuals. Complete waste of time.
You need to do level 1 first which I started in September, our teacher would take 45 mins jjust to take register, needless to say was replaced just before Christmas, loveley girl took over but not experienced, needless to say just about all the students failed there exams anbd the college paid for us to resit. She left the first wk of level 2 so until we had a new teacher we missed in all 4 wks tuition. We had 15 mins added on at start and finish of lessons but found this was not the same as blokes of 2 hours. First 2 exams only half of class ready to sit, and again only 1 full mock before final exam, again not feeling ready . All in all made to feel stupid - the fact that we all learn at diff levels not taken into account, I was classed as one of the better students but feel really fed up. Was hoping to take level 3 but have heard that most of the class from this course have failed!!!!!!!
Student facilities***
Good in class, but we cannot go into the main college and use the facilities so not extra practice - not good for learning!!
Social life****
Enjoyed meeting other people and very friendly with one lady who I will keep in touch with.
