  • Great value for money, and personally rewarding.
    Liverpool Hope University
    Chris, April 2007
    Overall rating *****
    Course content *****
I have just finished my first year, and I don't think I could ask for anything more from my course. My tutors are very down to earth and are always there to listen if I have a problem with anything. The modules in the first year teach you the core law subjects, with additional modules in French/German legal language. The law modules are taught with everyone studying for a law degree, whilst the language modules only involve a class of about 12. This means you get enough attention in order to iron out any problems you may have with the course material. Any law course is challenging, but studying law in a foreign language can make it even more so. However, it is very rewarding and opens a lot of doors to many different opportunities across a large number of careers. In my first year I had 8 lectures a week, 4 seminars and 2 language classes and I found it a joy to be at all of them. It is necessary to put in extra hours reading and working inorder to get through the material. The lecturers and very friendly and make the lectures interesting to listen to.
    Student facilities *****
The library is a great place to work quietly with access to all the resources you could possibly need. Additionally, the online services provide accoess to an enormous amount of online databases. There is also the Learning Grid, which provides IT facilities where you can go to work alone or in groups. The IT resources on campus are good and readily available when you need it.
    Social life *****
There is a good balance of male and female students, as well as a variety of nationalities, which makes the learning environment a pleasure to be in. Lectures are attended by about 200 people, followed up by seminars the following week with approximately 15 people. There are plenty of places around campus to work and socialise and to grab a drink with friends between lectures. The atmosphere on campus is generally quite relaxed and friendly!!!
