This course is for you, if you are interested in human behaviour, health and fitness, law and the legal system, government policies, leadership and team working, and would like to develop the skills and knowledge required by employers in the Uniformed Public Services sector. Progression onto a HND or degree course; alternatively the course is designed to prepare you for a career in a range of public services.
In this course students will study the following topics: improving health and fitness for entry into the uniformed public services; practical teamwork in the public services; map reading using ordnance survey maps; planning and participating in an event; introduction to expedition skills; developing personal skills for leadership; public service incidents; public services careers and searching for a job; personal skills for the public services and working as a volunteer.

What will I study? If you are interested in a future career in the emergency services (fire or police service), a branch of the armed forces or in the security industry then this course is for you. You will study for a BTEC qualification as well as Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT.
The course aims to develop essential management practice and knowledge required by managers in the public services; the course is designed for public service managers who already have a degree and / or other professional qualifications at degree level or above; this course emphasises and supports joint development opportunities to facilitate interagency working; it also provides an arena for networking with like minded professionals in the public service field who can inform practice through shared experiences.

Recent examples include a fitness session with the Royal Marines, laser shooting with the Army, casualty extraction exercise with the Fire and Rescue Service, a talk from the Border Force and Firearms and Crash Investigation presentations from the Police.
This course prepares students for entry into the Public Services such as the Police Service, Fire & Rescue Service, Armed Forces, Prison and Ambulance Services. Successful completion of the BTEC Level 2 Diploma will allow progress onto Level 3 Subsidiary / Extended Diploma in Public Services.
This course offers an opportunity for progression to enter employment in the uniformed public service sector. The units have been developed to gain a vocationally specific qualification to enter employment in the public service sector.
This course, equivalent to three A Levels, provides an excellent introduction to a career in the uniformed services. Approved by leading public service organisations it combines specialist subjects such as major incidents and uniformed services with outdoor activities, expedition skills and fitness related units.
Do you want to know what it is like to work in the police force or fire brigade? Well we do! We have two members of staff who have a HUGE amount of experience as they were both in these services. They will teach you how to look for work in a service of your choice, teach you about becoming a good citizen in your community, the value of teamwork and take you for regular fitness tests and long jogs around the park- they will even join in! This is an experience in learning that you will not forget from the beginning of the course in induction week to the very end in June.

The course is suitable for school leavers who would like a career in any of the British public services.
This programme provides a starting point to explore career options in the uniformed services, such as the Police, Fire and Rescue, Prison or Armed Forces. Designed for students who wish to pursue a career in the Armed Forces, Emergency Services or other uniformed public service, this course will develop your basic knowledge as well as practical skills. You will explore how teams develop, gain an understanding of the necessary leadership skills and learn about managing health and public service fitness.
The Entry to Sport and Public Services course is designed specifically to enhance the skills and qualities of the learner to help them progress on to either the next level of course or employment. Units include: Skills for leadership; Group project; Well being and Fitness; Introduction to security and Working in a team.
