- I am currently nearing the end of the Leadership and Management Course, which forms part of the CIPD Professional Development Scheme. The completion of this course leads to Licentiate membership of the CIPD. The course consists of tutor lead discussions and workshops, case studies and group exercises, with four assignments, four skills assessments and four exams at the end. I chose to take the flexible learning route to this course as it wasnt convenient for me to attend weekly trips to college. That way I could study in my own time and attend the workshops every 4-6 weeks. They provide you with a range of learning materials (including text books, workbooks and audio CDs) and the tutors are always on hand to answer queries either via phone or email. I have made some great friends over the past year who come from a variety of working backgrounds and industries and have found it to be a very worthwhile experience so far. I have found BPP Malpas to be extremely helpful and professional and would recommend them as an HR training and development provider to anyone.

- Everything we have been taught is up-to-date and relevant to the workplace. The course is fast paced but not at a level where I feel swept off my feet. The course is designed for those with no knowledge of business so it is easy to pick up for a complete beginner. It is obvious that the lecturers are knowledgeable and know their stuff, and they always use current real life example to link theory to practice. Overall, I feel that I am getting what I want and that in future I will be a much better HR practitioner as a result of this course.
- Student facilities ****
- The lecture theatres are all modern and exclusive to postgraduate business students only. There are two IT rooms and I have never had to wait for a computer as there are so many. However, printers aren't that great - sometimes the printers run out of toner and there isn't anyone at hand to change it, which then means having to move to another computer room two floors up.
- Social life *****
- I love going to class! I look forward to learning and am particularly impressed that all lecturers know me and recognise me even though there are 70 of us in the class. 80% of the course is made up of international students, mainly Chinese, but there are people from all over the world so I get to learn about other cultures and the way other people work. Being an HR course, naturally there are more women than men on the course. We are put into groups of seven at the beginning of the course, and these are the people I do group work with throughout the course. Being put into these groups means that people develop a culture where they meet with their group members after every lecture. We can meet afterwards in the postgraduate common room, or go to the Student Union and eat at Subway.

- The course was an Ma Module ans therefore prior knowledge was needed. We were a small group, who were given different scenarios each week to work out and produce (fabuolous) information sheets on after class discussion. The interaction worked well with the tutor bring much expereince and insight into every situation.
- Student facilities ***
- The room was large enough and heat and light were sufficient. There was always decent coffee and biscuits at the break!!!! There was a large boardroom like table that we could all mill around and pass ideas.
- Social life ****
- There were 6 - 8 of us on any one week. We were from all sides of the country and gelled well together. At the end of the course it was like saying goodbye to old friends. There was one very lucky man and the rest of us were females. We mixed well and worked well when small groups were set up to delph and discover. We all had differnet work and academic backgrounds and this helped the resources that we were able to put together. Altogether a very enjoyable expereince but a lot of work!!!!

- Course content ***
- I was expecting more practice than theory and more management oriented than the general development. However, the course had a wonderful fieldtrip included in the tuition fees, a trip to Ghana, it was unforgettable and during that trip we could see the theory coming 'alive' and having the 'flesh'. Most of the lecturers know their job, they help you with the notes, tutorials are also useful, as you can discuss in smaller groups your concerns and ideas. Essays in general are not that difficult, although for me the marking system was difficult and it took a while to get used to the argumentative writing style :)
- Student facilities ****
- IDPM has a wonderful World Cafe and of course the Library, the meeting point for all of us (they are going to shift to a new building, we have made some suggestions to improve the conditions, e.g. place microwaves for us to warm up our lunch, and things like that, you have to tell if the new building is better or not!). The Kilburn PC cluster is just a couple of minutes, for those who don't have their own PC, it is very helpful, people can access the building 24/7. Lecrure and tutorial rooms are equiped, the new campus is going to look more modern, than the one we were studying, so again, by he time some of you will be in IDPM, please, write to me and tell me what has changed.
- Social life *****
- THE BEST PEOPLE OF THE WORLD!!! I had never thought I would have so many friends from the WHOLE WORLD!!! Really, it is sooooo wonderful, thoe parties, those picnics, those candlelight evenings in Ghana, the Facebook conversations, everything is just GREAT!!! This is the place where you can meet th World, people from countries you may have never heard about (like most of my mates had never heard of Armenia, and I was the first Armenian they had ever met!).

- Whilst the course itself had a vat array of areas and specialisations it lacked in practical application (especially psychology) and small group work as the intake for both is very large
- Student facilities ****
- The University itself is well set up. There is always a computer lab free somewhere and the recreational and sport facilities are top class with rock bottom prices.
- Social life *****
- Glasgow is THE city to study in. Fantastic set up for students accomodation, part-time work and nightlife with something in the region of 50 clubs throughout the city and infinate pubs.

- Course content ****
- The course that I took was well organised. The only problem was that most of us wanted to take more optional courses, however, we could take only 3 optional and 1 compulsory course each semester. A wonderful opportunity was the study trip to Ghana, which gave us a practical knowledge of the situation in the field.
- Student facilities ****
- The facilities are very good, enough space to have group discussions and to enjoy the student life. Sometimes lack of books would cause a problem, especially during essay deadline period, so I would suggest to start drafting the papers as early as possible to avoid 'jams' at the library waiting list.
- Social life *****
- MORE THAN WONDERFUL!!! I got to know people from the WHOLE WORLD!!!
