- Highly Relevant to my Career
- Heriot-Watt University
- John, June 2007
- Overall rating
- Course content *****
- I did the Actuarial course at Heriot-Watt a couple of years ago and now work as an Actuary. I found it exciting, challenging and rewarding - nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I obtained many exemptions from the professional examinations by taking this course. The lecturers are real experts in their field.
- Student facilities *****
- Learning facilities are modern and all lecture rooms and labs are situated on the same site - just a few minutes from the Halls! The campus is set on the outskirts of Edinburgh - Scotland's capital city and includes shops, a bank, bars, restaurants and a great sports and exercise centre. And just a short bus ride away, the city centre offers a wide collection of musical and sporting activities.
- Social life *****
- There're students from all over the world on our course at Heriot-Watt. This makes for some really interesting discussions and I've really enjoyed making new friends from different countries.

- The pace of the course is fast paced, but the teachers push you enough so that you want to stay on track. Don't be intimidated, it takes a little time to get used to everything.
- Student facilities *****
- The classroom setting is very conducive to learning: bright lights, smaller quarters that room approximately 30 kids which is just perfect. When the classroom size gets above that, attention spans of students tend to get smaller. It's just something I've noticed.
- Social life *****
- I love going to class. I love the whole business world. At first I wanted to go into medicine, but business is really my true passion.

- Because the course is online it can be taken at your own pace. This is the perfect complementary resource to any one sitting their CFP exams. The site is easy to use and the revision feed back is better than anything else out there.

- MSc in Finance at JMU
- Liverpool John Moores University
- DANIEL, April 2007
- Overall rating
- Course content ****
- The course covers the law relating to medicine and medical treatment in England and Wales with some mention of Scotland, and medical ethics as it ties in with the law. The course draws its students from varied backgrounds, including non-lawyers, but there is considerable scope for in-depth legal analysis. Non-lawyers very quickly become familiar with the idiosyncracies of English medical law. The two halves of the course complement each other very effectively, and are taught in such a way that the student can see the interplay between ethics and law. There is a very holistic feel to the course, with the dissertation element drawing from both the ethics and law halves. The tuition is beyond reproach. The staff are incredibly inspiring and display considerable enthusiasm for their subjects, whilst pushing you to achieve your best.
- Student facilities ****
- The facilities are variable. There is a very good IT network. The library is amazing, but some of the classrooms are a little dated. These rooms tend not to be given to postgraduate students, so top marks!
- Social life *****
- The course only admits approximately 30 students each year so a "community" feel is developed very quickly. The group is very inclusive, creating a forum for everyone to speak. I have made lasting friends from my time on the course.

- Various modules available
- University Of Glasgow
- JOUNG EUN, June 2007
- Overall rating
- Course content ****
- The course provides a wide range of modules joining with other departments such as Accounting & Finance and Law. So, the course name is int'l banking & finance, you can choose modules based on your study focuse. Yet, the 1st sem. consists more of modules in macro economics. Also, we took a marketing module as an compulsory. Some may not really enjoy the module like me because I've already took several marketing lectures before which provided more deep study whereas the lectures in this course is more general and brief.
- Student facilities ***
- Most lecture rooms are in the dept main building (Adam Smith building) and the building is not really modern. IT facilities in the dept building is rather under standrad. Not easy, not enough. Dept's library is also rather small, not having enough resources. No enough studying space. Close early & not open during weekend/holidays/vacation. Still, the main library is quite good.
- Social life ****
- Staying & studying in the uni was really a enjoyable experience. Nice & friendly local people. Also, there are enough social places around the uni. Pubs, restaurants, and small shops. Was quite convenient unless you want buy some fancy things. Still can easily access to the city centre if you need to buy/have something special. Lecture rooms are quite different each other as there are several old, historical building as well as newly built buildings with different size. Yet, if you want make/meet friends from various countries, you might be a little bit disappointed since the accounting/finance courses are full of chinese/taiwanes.

- Durham does it best!
- University Of Durham Business School
- Samuel, July 2007
- Overall rating
- Course content ****
- If you are aiming at careers in the financial service industry, Durham Business School (DBS) MSc curriculum will help equip you with the relevant expertise. Their curriculum is majorly based on CFA Institute's curriculum, so that it will help you to cope with the CFA designation exam to a large extent. The faculty members are very diversed, which to me sometimes caused problems in teaching process, but hey you should do your homework anyway, so it won't matter too much. Besides they are truly experts in their own field, so you'll get good feedback eventually. At DBS it's a personal thing; you can go to your tutors for help on your studies, so it's quite wonderful.
- Student facilities *****
- The classrooms are also diversed. Since Durham University is the 3rd oldest in England, you might expect some Victorian mansions keep operating as classrooms, although generally they have provided the ultra-modern facilities to keep up with today's educational necessities. One particular modern lecture theatre is on the construction process, nearly finished, which makes me envy the 2007/8 people. The IT resource is huge, the university has every corner covered with computers/internet access. They also subscribe to large numbers of academic journal resources, both printed and online. DBS in particular has its own library and IT rooms with subscriptions to Thomson Financial and Reuters databases.
- Social life *****
- Students at the MSc programmes are extremely diversed. Most of the people though, came from Asian countries, just like me. There are few people from the Continent, Britain and Africa. This creates a very cosmopolitan atmosphere where you can learn a lot about other cultures, and simply other people whose way of thinking are completely different from you. I find that very interesting indeed. If you are living in, the college for postgraduates is Ustinov College. We have more than 120 nationalities living in the college, which again proves how diversed Durham's Graduate School is. It's been invaluable experience for me in terms of studies and building networks with people from around the world. Durham does it best!

- Course content ****
- This course isn't easy and i would advise anyone planning to take this course to be prepared for alot of maths. so if you dont like maths than this course isn't for you. I cants say I enjoy this degree but the job prospects look good after having done this degree. I wouln;t say the teaching is inspiring and most of the things you learn you probably wont use but I think thats all degrees. There is a lot of lectures more than with other degrees so beware the workload is heavy.
- Student facilities ***
- The IT facilities are adequate the only thing i would say is dont expect to be at cass business school as this is mainly used by post grads. The uni also has a bloomberg terminal which is useful the degree and has books on all aspects of the degree.
- Social life **
- This course doesn't attract the most exciting people but that isn't a bad thing as there will be lots of people to study with and you find one or two party animals but these guys dont usually do well.
